When people asked me where I celebrated the Millennium, they are often surprised to hear me say Botswana, however I think it makes as memorable a place as any to celebrate a new year. Botswana is home to some fantastic wildlife and is a relaxed country (unusual for Africa). The elephant population in Botswana is the greatest African elephant population in the world and it is also where the Okavango Delta, the worlds only inland delta is situated, as it empties into the Kalahari.

The pictures below show a fish eagle, a crocodile, a hippo, impala, a lioness and cub and a couple of vervet monkeys. My feelings about the wildlife in Botswana was that it was much more authentic, as the game parks and reserves in some countries are rather zoolike.
