In Greece I stuck exclusively to the mainland, looking at the cultural bits as opposed to the sub-cultural, it leaves something for next time. There are some great sites, I found it surprising which ones I found most interesting. The best museum was probably that set around Phillip of Macedon's tomb (he was Alex's dad). 

The pictures below show the Parthenon at the Acropolis in Athens, the honour guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier (these guys looked more like comedy extras from the ministry of funny walks.), a monastery atop a precipitous rocky outcrop and people clutching religious icons and walking on burning coals in a bizarre religious ceremony.
