San Marino is one of my favourite republics, not because it has any great cultural wealth, although it is pleasant enough, not because of any fantastic scenery although it is generally very nice, nor is it because of anything the people have done of great note. No, the reason I like the independent Republic of San Marino, is because it shouldn't really exist. It is a tiny little independent blip on the map of Italy.
