Singapore is a city state that has a few days worth of things to see, but is being developed so much that the older buildings are almost all gone now. Except for landmarks such as the Raffles hotel, home of the original Singapore Sling. The skyline is mostly uninteresting skyscrapers (photo 1). The national symbol of Singapore the Merlion (half lion, half fish) (photo 1) is featured in a few places.

The highlight in Singapore though is its zoological gardens which feature rare and interesting animals. What is most impressive is that many of the animals are not enclosed but have free rein to go where they like. This means that one can get within arms length of endangered species such as the golden lion tamarind (photo 1). The kid in the second photo looked like the ones on posters which is why I took his photo.
